Doncaster College for the Deaf
A £9 million project building on the solid foundations for national specialist education in Doncaster.
Doncaster Deaf Trust, which incorporates college, school and nursery, is a national leader in the education of deaf people, employing 236 staff with an operating budget of £7.5 million.
Phase one of the work will include:
- The current motor trade area being transformed into a Deaf Access Centre with signing support and communication classes in British Sign Language.
- A state of art motor vehicle body repair centre.
- A new Foundation Learning Tier education building which will enable the Learning for Living and Work curriculum to be further developed.
- A new 38 bed residential unit.
- A series of semi-detached houses for students to develop independent living skills.
There are also plans being developed for phase two and three, which will incorporate new sports facilities and an enterprise zone.
