The existing steel portal framed building had been originally constructed has a car dealership in the early 1980’s and acquired by Lookers plc has part of a group take-over. The existing franchise was re-located off site and it was agreed that the site would be used to accommodate the retail new car sales, service and used car sales for the Ford Franchise which Looker operate in Chelmsford.

The works required to transform the existing structure into one that could accommodate and fulfil the requirements of a Ford Franchise dealer included, the complete re-configuration of the internal accommodation to form a 11 New Car Showroom 10 bay plus MOT Bay Workshop and small Parts Store. The external elevations were refurbished in line with the current Ford corporate identity with new cladding and shopfronts. The external space was again re-configured to allow an increase in both customer parking and used car display spaces.
