Lookers Ford LCV Robjohns Road

The existing building was constructed in the 1960’s and until recently had been used to accommodate the used car operation for the Ford Franchise that Lookers plc operate within the Chelmsford area. Following a strategic review of the existing business the used car operation was moved off site to join with the new cars in a new state of the art Ford Dealership. The Robjohns Road site which also accommodates a large bodyshop business was to be retained, refurbished and extended to accommodate a new Ford Transit Centre, parts distribution business as well as retain the existing bodyshop workshop and PDI centre for light commercial vehicles. The site will also provide at first floor accommodation, a regional accounts centre and call centre.

The works involve the demolition of part of the existing building, erection of a new two storey extension to house the LCV Showroom with a call centre and accounts department at first floor. The parts distribution centre will be located within an existing steel portal framed building which will undergo a major refurbishment that will see it taken back to the original steel frame and re-clad with composite cladding and new internal services and layout.
