Ashville

A small development that when completed will be made up of five three bedroomed town houses and nine one and two bedroomed apartments. The site is located off Doncaster Road in the Starirfoot area of Barnsley. The site and the buildings had fallen into disuse following the relocation of the last occupants (Doctors Surgery) some 18 months before. The building had been fire damaged following an arson attack.

The works involved the demolition of the existing building and site clearance to remove the old car park and more unusually a tennis court built by one of the doctors.

The new town houses are two and a half storey high with the ensuite master bedroom been located in the roof space. Resident’s parking spaces were provided in a private communal court yard setting. Works commenced in January 2007 and the first phase been completed 10 months later.

 Traditional brick and blockwork construction was used following a review to see if timber fame construction would have offered any financial benefits to the client.
