Self-build project for a private client who was focused on the need to minimise the future running costs associated with his new home. Each element of the external envelope was carefully looked at to see if improvements to the thermal properties could be economically be made within an acceptable payback period. An air source heat pump was used as a primary heat source with solar PV mounted upon the roof other renewable technologies were employed throughout the dwelling.
